‘Any moves’ in China’s stance on Ukraine war are ‘expected to be slow in coming’

Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says there is a view in the federal government that China is “conscious of how bad the Ukraine campaign has gone for Vladimir Putin”.

This comes after Foreign Minister Penny Wong in New York addressed the UN General Assembly, urging China to “encourage Russia to end the Ukraine war”.

“But any moves in stance or behaviour by China are expected to be slow in coming,” Mr Clennell said.

“Ms Wong also urged China to end trade sanctions on Australia in her speech.”
